I am mid-way through an MSc in Civil Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, gaining work experience by partaking in a 3-month placement at Absolute.
While at Absolute, I have been carrying out research into the fast-evolving energy storage market. This has allowed Absolute to stay up-to-date with current technologies to ensure they are prepared for the expected ‘boom’ in energy storage installations. Along with this, I have been conducting a study into community energy schemes, which has involved multiple site visits including to the Isle of Eigg, and Knoydart. This is another market Absolute are passionate about exploring further.
I have been to many of our live project site to experience what Absolute do on a day-to-day basis. I’ve seen wind turbines maintained, and a solar farm mid-construction. My time at Absolute has been very enjoyable and I feel I’ve gained some very valuable experience that will set me up well for a career in renewable energy. I am a recently qualified STEM ambassador so I hope to assist Absolute in spreading the message to school children that renewable energy is the future.
