Absolute Solar and Wind are currently installing Solar PV for properties owned by Castle Rock Edinvar Housing association (CRE), the installations will improve the energy efficiency of the homes and helping the tenants alleviate fuel poverty and the Housing association meet the EEsshh targets.
Absolute are Scotland’s longest established renewable installer and to date have installed over 2200 domestic properties and are now installing large scale commercial properties and Solar farms throughout Scotland
Absolute were awarded the project after winning a competitive tender in 2016. We have been a proactive partner assisting CRE with DNO applications, supporting them with planning applications and working on feasibility studies for properties with unusual requirements. CRE have a wide range of properties from small listed cottages to Slate roofed properties in conservation zones to unusual 1970’s properties with mono pitched roofs.
Prior to starting the full program, a pilot house was completed to allow the Clerk of Works opportunity to review the standard of work in detail, this initial standard setting was agreed by all parties and has resulted in no snags or return visits
Surveys and installations are booked by the Administration team at Absolute who also process all paperwork post installation, registering the systems with MCS and with Passiv Systems monitoring portal. Our IT set up allows all users to simultaneous access and update information for each property
Initially we were unable to reach all tenants by phone, we then used text message to try to reach them and where this wasn’t successful we and visited each property in person out of hours normal working hours
Surveys are conducted by the Project Manager in conjunction with CRE staff, this allows any tenant issues to be resolved, the system to be explained and the installation process. We complete our survey documentation, looking at the electrical installation, cable routes roof structure and details such as tile type.
Installations are organised to minimise inconvenience to tenants with the team working weekends to fit around tenant’s work schedules
The site supervisor liaises with the tenants, onsite teams, scaffolders and organises deliveries daily this effortless organisation allows us to install between 2-4 properties a day, depending on property/roof type and location
Post installation checks are conducted by the site supervisor a client satisfaction survey is completed and this also gives us the opportunity to explain how the system operates and how the tenant maximise savings throughout the year.
